Call to action

An explicit request that the viewer do something.

Subscribing, commenting, clicking a link. Effective ones are specific and placed where the viewer has just received value rather than at the start.

Formats differ in how much they tolerate: an ambient or ASMR video is actively damaged by a loud mid-video request, while a tutorial can carry one comfortably at the point the task is complete.

Formats where this matters most

  • ASMR / AmbientSensory audio is the product. Microphone technique matters more than anything on screen.
  • Tutorial / How-ToStep-by-step instruction that ends with the viewer having actually completed a specific task.
