Evergreen

Content that stays useful and keeps being found long after publication.

Evergreen content answers a question that a rolling population keeps asking, so the audience replaces itself rather than running out. Tutorials, explainers and comparisons tend to be evergreen; commentary and reactions are the opposite.

The trade is visible early on: evergreen formats grow more slowly at first and continue earning far longer.

Formats where this matters most

  • Tutorial / How-ToStep-by-step instruction that ends with the viewer having actually completed a specific task.
  • ExplainerAnswers how or why something works, conceptually, in under ten minutes. Nothing gets built.
  • Versus / Head-to-Head TestTwo or more things run through one controlled protocol until a winner can be declared.
